The speed-skater is a balance of energy and power.


The ebb and flow of the body is echoed by an eerie sound.


It is the sound of the singing bearings.


They sing with every motion, all twenty in a choir of hisses and intermittent screams of ecstasy.


This is the dance of the speed skater.

Formula 1 is a team of skaters who love to skate, there are some fierce competitors, some who just like to go fast, others who like to social skate and some who are new to speed skating.










Thursdays, 5:50 am Westchester Parkway. Take Lincoln Blvd. south to La Tijera, turn right, park somewhere in the block.

Saturdays 8:30 am El Dorado Park, Long Beach.  Skate is at the north end of the park on a closed 1.7 mile loop.  After warm ups packs of skaters typically do 10 laps.

Sundays, 8:00 am, Venice Pier - (The Terrace restaurant, where Washington Blvd. ends at the beach) - this skate begins at 8:00am with a half hour of "dry-land" training, followed by a mid-pace 30 mile skate. Finishes 11:00 - 1:00 PM.
